Non-surgical body sculpting
You do your best to stay healthy and fit. You eat right, stay active and maintain a healthy BMI. Despite your efforts, you still deal with stubborn problem areas.
Many men and women who are at their ideal body weight still struggle to reduce concentrated fat deposits in areas such as the abdomen, love handles, thighs and arms. Advancements in non-surgical body sculpting give patients more options for winning the battle of the bulge. MedCosmetic, a division of Mirabile M.D. Beauty, Health & Wellness, is sharing some common questions and answers related to non-surgical body sculpting.
Q: After delivering my baby, I worked hard to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I still have a tummy pooch and some loose skin. What do you recommend?
A: We offer two different technologies for non-surgical body sculpting, truSculpt and Liposonix. Depending on the individual patient and which area of the body being treated, we will recommend the best technology for your needs. trusculpt uses radiofrequency energy, which goes through the skin to break down areas of excessive fat cells. It also has a tightening effect which helps to contour the area and improve the appearance of skin. Keep in mind, the skin tightening is only effective on patients with a minimal amount of lose skin. We offer complimentary consultations prior to treatment to determine whether you are an appropriate candidate. We have a long standing tradition of giving honest feedback and if we don’t believe you’ll get good results, we will tell you. For example, if you believe you are better suited for a surgical procedure, such as a tummy tuck, we’ll refer you to a good area plastic surgeon.
Q: Are body sculpting treatments painful?
A: Body sculpting treatments can be uncomfortable. Because we are delivering energy and heat deep within the dermis, patients will experience a warm sensation, which can be painful. We strive to make each treatment as pain-free as possible. Our owner and on-site medical director, Dr. James Mirabile, has developed a pain management protocol that gives us many options for managing pain. After treatment, some patients experience redness, bruising, discomfort and swelling. Most patients resume normal activity the day following treatment.
Q: When will I see results and how long will it last?
A: Most people see their maximum results 8 to 12 weeks following their last treatment. This is how long it takes for the body to naturally metabolize and destroy fat tissue. We advise patients to drink plenty of water and engage in physical activity for the days following treatment. This helps to move the destroyed fat cells through your body’s lymphatic system. Patients who follow post care instructions typically have better results than those who do not. While the targeted fat cells are destroyed, surrounding fat cells can grow. The best way to maintain your results over the long-term is to maintain your weight and live a healthy lifestyle.
